Football (or Soccer pronounced in America) is most famous sport in the world. It is the oldest and hence widely recognized. No matter which game we like sooner or later we fall in love with football. But initially it becomes difficult to understand the rules of football. So i have written this article “Football Rules” to get you started.
Duration of Football match:
Football match is of 90 minutes. You might have seen that additional time is provided in the end, that is called injury time. It is basically the compnesation for the time which was wasted during the match.
If it is a final match and score is level, then additional 30 minutes are given. After this panelties will decide the winner.
Football field is rectangular in shape. Its length is nearly 110 meters and width is 40 to 90 meters wide. Middle line is called 50 yard. Goal posts are at both ends. The simple way to score a goal is to kick the ball inside opponents goal post. If the player goes outside the lines with football then it is considered out of bounds.
Number of players in football:
In football there must be at least two teams. Each team should have 11 (maximum) players on their side. There can be three substitutions. Match can come to 10-7 man down if players are given red cards.
Referees in football:
There are basically two referees in the football. One is head referee and second is assistant referee or lineman. He helps head referee to decide the corner any fouls etc. But head referee always make the final decision.
Penalties or Fouls in Football:
There different penalties for the defaulters in football.
Player is in offside position if he is next to defender. A free kick is awarded to the opponents if the player is found at offside position.
Are given by the official for fouls and offense. A free kick can either be immediate or aberrant. An objective can be scored specifically from an immediate free kick. An objective must be scored from a backhanded free kick on the off chance that it touches no less than one other player first. The free kick must be taken from a stationary position with that position changing relying upon whether the free kick was given inside or outside the objective range and whether it’s immediate or circuitous. The opponent team must be at least 9.15 m from the ball when the free kick is taken.
When the ball crosses the boundary lines then throw-in is used to restart the game.
Corner kick is awarded to the attacking team if the defending team touches the ball before it goes out of bounds. The ball is then placed on the corner of either side of goal post.
